Server Side -
QC 11.0 Enterprise Edition (patch 6) installed on Win 2003 server with Web logic 10g & MS-SQL 2008 as DB.

Client Side -
Win 7 SP1 (64 bit) with IE 9 & HP ALM 11 Explorer

I tried to access QC on IE9 (32 bit version) with admin rights. Got attached issue. Please note I right clicked on IE and selected the option of run as admin. Still same error. Getting same error when accessing through HP ALM Explorer also. Tried the same of running it as "run as admin".

I went through the link of minimum system requirements (https://hpln.hp.com/page/alm-qc-enterprise-technical-specifications)& it satisfies all criteria. Please note I am facing this issue for around 20 machines having same image as mentioned above.

Raised a ticket with HP for this. All the solutions provided by them not working (like installing root certificates (Thwarte certificate, G5 Root and Code Signing for Win7), cleanup of system, running uninstall utility, turning DEP off, adding to trusted sites, reset IE, regitering client components).

Kindly help on this.

Does anyone know a cmd line to stop and start the ALM application?  We have an ALM 11.5 server that gets overwhelmed with SCM synchronize jobs that only seem to resolve by stopping the application.  We're going to replace this server when we upgrade to 11.52 in the next few months, but until then I'd like to restart the app proactively as part of a scheduled job.

Did any body here tried using Asset sharing feature in HP ALM PE version. We tried to use that but the sync between the requirements is not working. We contacted HP and they replied they are still working for fix on this issue.

Need help to customize one field in QC defect. In the defect I had one field called  "Root Cause" (BG_USER_06) , this field is currently not mandatory. However, I would like to customize this field will become to be a "mandatory" field when the developer update the status (BG_STATUS) defect to 'Fixed" .

Would you please assist me how to modify the code in the "Workflow" / ScriptEditor in order to force the "Root Cause" field to mandatory after the developer/users update the defect status to "Fixed".

Does ALM / QC allow nested Test Configurations or a similar setup?

For example, I want to setup test cases with test configurations for different browsers and user roles for which the application will be tested. In the scenarios, each user role needs to be tested in each browser.

Say, Browsers: IE9, Firefox, Chrome

User Roles: Free User, Paid User

Under IE9 --> test Free User and Paid User configurations

Under IE10 --> test Free User and Paid User configurations

Under Chrome....and so on?

1. Is there a way to setup Test Configurations to support this

OR

2. Is this the only way --> I simply have separate test sets for each browser (with the same test cases copied over and over) and have the user roles setup as test configurations?

I've got a problem when attempting to create TC in QC.

I longin QC and select New Test, type TC name in and set responsibility to myself, when I click OK, my TC is suddenly locked by another user named test login in qc.It's weird that I could not modify my TC now as it's locked. Have any guys met this before?

I have a workflow in QC 11 which is working fine when i am logging as TD Admin role,However when i am logging as Project Manager or Tester(or any other role),The workflow is not working.

For ex when logging as TD Admin role i am able to change the Bug Status from New to Assign Developer(or any other valid state)

but when logging as Project Manger each time  i am trying to change the value i am getting a msgbox-The initial value will be set to New, which ideally should notcome according to the workflow.

We plan to move our QC infrastructure from a site to another. We are in QC11 patch 15 and we are using Oracle 10.2.0.4.

Is someone already experienced that ?

Today our plan is to copy data from server to an external disk. To export data from DB. Travel to the new site and import DB.

Build the new server with the copied repository. Parse files to change DB string connection and repository path.

Unfortunatly to export or 15GN of DB it takes a very long time , more than 15 hours. It is normal ?

At the beginning we didn't plan to stop application so long time.

Our Qc server is running on linux but HP doesn't have a cloe procedure. Maybe regarding DB we should tru to relagin repository it avoid unused schemas ?

All ideas are welcome !!

It's based on template but the template building is not explained.

1. How to save UFT11.5 scripts in ALM  and local drive at same time

2. How to Upload all scripts in ALM i. e i have written 100+ scripts and now i want to upload them into ALM ,

3. How ALM stores the Scripts, Mechanism of storage like it will store as a hole Script folder or a image, if it stores as hole script than it will be stored in DB or Server Hard Disk

4. Is it possible to maintain the versioning in ALM,

5. If i use other versioning tool like GIT , Is it possible to take check out and upload the scripts into ALM

In the Test Lab module, the “Order Test Instances” dialog box displays only the Test Configuration Name for all the test instances in the set. But I have a test set where instances of different tests are run for the same test configuration. How do I order them if the Dialog box displays only the configuration name and not the test name?

I am able to get the test set id , test set name using macros. basically i have problem which object or method to be used to get the count of executed test cases from test set.

for an ex.

A test set  have following test case

1 N/A

5 Failed

7 passed

9 blocked

10  not completed

basically i want this count using macros.. please suggest me.

We are facing a problem here with a few users. We have just released Windows 8 desktops with Office 2010 and IE8. Unfortuantely some of our users are getting an Access is denied error message when trying to launch QC (we are still on QC9). Can anyone suggest something for this error?

Is it possible to have a workflow script to send out auto emails to the TDAdmin group when any users changes their own user group or change others user group. This is just for information purpose. We just need to know who is changing to what. Thanks in advance.

If I select 'Use Evaluation Key', can I come back to the SIte Admin > Licenses tab and 'Load' the .license file at any time?

This is for ALM 11.52 and we will likely get a QC 11.52 Enterprise Licence (if that sounds right).
