Out of Memory/Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications error

Hello All,

We have the below issue when users install the Microsoft Excel 'Add On' for ALM 11.0. Any information as to why they are getting this error is greatly appreciated!! 

 

I am having trouble loading the Microsoft Excel Add-In for Application Lifecycle Management version 11.0

 

There have been a series of problems.

  1. After running the script I get the error “System Error &H8004011 (-2147221231). ClassFactory cannot supply the requested data.”
  2. This is followed by another error message “Out of memory” in a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applicat…” dialog box.
  3. This occurs in my Excel whether ALM is running or not so I need to remove the install.

New Tabs when creating Defects. When going back into the Defect, the tab names are no longer same

Texts in Descriptions/Comments feids replaced with html tags.

Hi

Intially when defects were entered, texts in description and comments fields looked as the texts were formated. But later after some time texts just replaced with html tags.

Tried adding 'TDConnection.IgnoreHtmlFormat=false' and we even patched the latest ALM 12.53 with the latest patch 02. The issue still persists.

We start seeing this issue in Test Steps description fields in Test Plan as well. This is the big issue for the users cause texts are not readable.

Do we have the solution to get rid of this html tag issue?

Issue Authenticating via Excel Add-in

Hi

We have recently upgraded ALM from 11.52 to 12.53. Since then, some of the users who have been accessing company network through VPN are having issue with new 12.53 Excel upload addin. They can access the ALM in IE with any issue but when they try to authenticate from Excel add-in, they are getting the message "Unable to connect to the ALM server. Please check the server URL". Attached screenshot.

We had tried what we could:

- Reinstalling Addins

- Installing Client Registration

- Installing ALM Connectivity

But no luck. Is this a known issue? Do we have a fix for this?

Hi all,

Can someone explain me how to download/export test cases from the QC through test plan? I can able to export through test lab but it doesnot contain the full test case details.

Version QC : 12.21

Please share some documents if you have.

TestSet_Fields("CY_FOLDER_ID").Value not return an ID

Hi,

I have a problem with TestSet_Fields("CY_FOLDER_ID") field in script editor (ALM 12.01). In database CY_FOLDER_ID contains an ID, but in script editor TestSet_Fields("CY_FOLDER_ID").Value return a name of a folder which is not ok, because I need an ID of selected folder.

HPE ALM REST API to implement an HPQC/Active Directory comparison report

I’ve been working with the HPE ALM REST API in order to implement an HPQC/Active Directory comparison report. However, while I’ve been able to access the API resources successfully from the browser, I’ve hit a wall when attempting to access them programmatically – primarily due to authentication issues.

I am a developer working with me to write a program to access HPQC User information with the purpose of comparing the users of HPQC with out Active Directory. When employees leave the company there is an automated process by which they are end-dated in the "Active Directory". This program would seek to sync HPQC user validity with Active Directory user dates

How to Query test cases written and executed by different Vendors in single graph or table?

Hello.. I have multiple vendors working along with me and I want to take a management report that would clearly say, Total test cases, Passed, failed, blocked, N/A, No Run, Not complete by each resource of different vendors for a particular work item. Work item may be a list of 200. What I would like to see is like in the attached.

Not sure if this is limitation of  ALM, if not good else I accept as my lack of knowledge and that's why I'm here :)

Attachments getting deleted in QC

The version of QC that we are using is 10. Users are complaining that they are seeing 0kb files every now and then. Its found that files are getting deleted frequently. I couldnt trace the issue, but suspect that it has something to do with the version control. I have enabled the debug logs, but not able to find the root cause. Anyone had this issue before ?

some nippets from the log before the actual delete command:

 

some warnings

...

Failed to check visibility of field 'HAS_LINKAGE';

Failed to check visibility of field 'HAS_TRACED_FROM';

..

then a list of sql commands followed by:

delete owned entity from ORIG start. entity: CROS_REF

SELECT CR_REFERENCE FROM CROS_REF WHERE CR_REF_ID=XXX

SQL execution completed in 0ms [0 rows affected]

Deleting file XXX

SELECT CR_REFERENCE FROM CROS_REF WHERE CR_REF_ID=XXX

SQL execution completed in 0ms [0 rows affected]

Deleting file XXX

...

like that all the attachments for that requirement were deleted.  I am looking for a clue like, where to start debugging this issue.

Unable to launch HPQC / ALM 10.0.0 ( Vendor Notebook)

Dear All,

Does anyone know why most of my vendor using IE 11 unable to launch HPQC 10? Instead our staff that using IE 11 can able to access the HPQC most of the time. Error / Notification as per attachment. 

They access from the vendor testing / development room. Is the connection part of this issue? Please advice.

Defect Status in the Execution Grid of TestLab

Hi Good Day all, 

Any one in the group could tell me ,

whether is it possible to display the linked Defect status in the Test Lab execution Grid for the Test Run 

Example:

 Test instance  is failed and linked the defect to it . In the exection Grid of Test Lab we could not see the

Defect status . Unless we open the Test Instance Details and check the Linked Defects.

tdc.TestSetTreeManager Subnodes Count is zero & no Items listed although folders exists in ALM12.5x?

Hi,

Why tdc.TestSetTreeManager  Subnodes Count is zero & no Items listed although several subfolders exists in ALM12.5x ?

This happening from 7th subfolder level onwards.

This resulting in not able to retrieve testsets/any details from these ALM directories.

I want to cutomize the project entity field that is having a lookup list with lot of models listed. i want to choose more than one model. When i select the option "Allow Multiple Values" and saved the project. I am not able to select more than one model under the list. can anyone please help up to resolve this issue.

ALM 12 stops working after connecting to a different project

Hi there!

I have a small VBScript in the 'Common Script' file that disconnects the TDConnection Object from the current project and connects it to another project on the same server. The idea is to transfer a bug from one project to another. So after creating a new bug in the other project (and setting all necessary fields) I disconnect from the other project and reconnect to the original project.

Up to this point everything seems to work smoothly, however, when I try to do something in ALM now (editing a bug or clicking refresh) ALM crashes and I get the "ALM Client has stopped working" message.

This is a simplified version of my script that really just connects to another project and then reconnects to the original project, nothing else. And it still reproduces the same erroneous behavior.

HP ALM Synchronizer Connection to Clear Quest ( Endpoint 2) failed

Please find the below details and provide me the inputs.

 I need to sync the HP ALM defects to CQ defects.I have installed the HP ALM synchronizer server, Synchronizer Client and Clear Quest Client on the same server and was able to connect to Synchronizer .

 For the connection to the End point 1, I gave my user id,password,HP ALM details like ALM URL,Domain and Project. Successfully Connected.

 For the connection to the Endpoint 2, there are only details like user id,password,Database,Schema Repository.

 But no where we are entering DB server name or Clear Quest Url so how to get connected.

 So I gave my user id, password, Database and Schema Repository details and try to connect.

Below is the error :

 ERROR #1- adapter.CONNECTION_FAILURE : Failed to connect to endpoint of type ClearQuest. Error: com.mercury.qc.gossip.exp.GossipServerException: adapter.CONNECTION_FAILURE : Failed to connect to endpoint of type ClearQuest. Error: com.hp.qc.synchronizer.adapters.exceptions.AdapterConnectionException: Failed to connect. Reason: AutomationException: Class not registered..

Unable to Export the Test Runs details from the Grid view of Test Lab into excel 2010

On Following the below steps

1.) Login to QC

2.) Go to Test Lab

3.) Select a particular cycle

4.) Select columns as "Configuration Test Id, Excution Status, Date, Tester, Name, Id, and a few more

5.) Export ->All

6.) Enter the name of the file

Error dispalyed "Could not export"

P.S: Details about version used

Installation Details: 

Product version 11.52.652 

Patch level 8

Updated data is missing in Test case

Hi

We are following below steps to update data/text in Test Plan

  1. Navigate to Test Plan
  2. Select the required test case
  3. Make changes to data/text
  4. click on Save button
  5. navigate to the next test case

When we navigate to the previous test case, changes which we made are gone.

Please share some input on why this is happening and what do we need to do to resolve this issue.

We are using HP ALM version 11.52
