Intermittent Error to Create a BUG: I cant fill some bug fields sometimes
The error is totally intermittent.
Some times, some fields cannot be filled.
The field that gets more time errors is Assigned To, but it happens to all fields. And just some times.
When I get the error, I close HPQC and all internet explorer browsers, open again, and it´s working fine again.
Please, can anyone help me on this?

Project Report Document Template Bug or User Error?

- Project Report - New
It does not appear that QC is saving my choices in templates, I'm at a loss.
I'm trying to customize a report template and I've saved and updated in the Project Reports templates in the customization area, (see attachment). I then select it as the Project Template (see attachment) that I want to use when generating my report.
However, when I preview or generate the report the template I chose is not what is returning, (see attachment).
I'm not sure how it is still returning the old template format as I even deleted that one. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Any help is much appreciated.

Formatting Lost during Excel Upload
QC Version: 10.00
Excel Version: Excel2007
I am trying to upload the Test Cases from Excel to Quality Center. We have a lot of Formatting to be maintained during our Test Design. Bolds, Italics, Colors & Underlines.
While uploading the test case all of this formatting is lost. We cannot redo all formatting after uploading and going into each test case. That's a lot of work.
Can you please let me know if there is a way to upload test cases from Excel to QC without losing the formatting.

Site admin and users of a project are locked
Hi
Need urgent help.
We're using QC 9.0. After upgrading to Patch 26,
- all the users of a project
- and SiteAdmin user (only one user)
got locked and could not login.
please let us know if anyone could help.
I need to know
1) How can I unlock the QC users of a project ( we knew the password)
2) How can I unlock the SiteAdmin user.
We tried putting a blank password (NULL) at DB level, but even after doing that, we could not login with blank password into SiteAdmin.
please advice

QC/ALM and accessing Test Instance Step Values with QTP
Hi,
I would think this is a pretty logical thing to do if you are using QC and QTP but in all my searching I cannot find an example of someone doing it.
We have an Integration Test Instance and run, that has test values in the run_steps that we want to use in QTP to run scripts with. My team and I unfortunately are not sure the linking reference between the Test Instance and where it appears either the Test Plan Module or the Manual Runner are getting the Steps from. How do we make this link?
We can find the path to the test instance, but need to connect the Test ID and the linked run steps that have the value. I don't need all the code, just help with connecting the final steps.
I can make the connection to the TC_TEST_INSTANCE but how do I add the correlation to the TS_NAME and then the connected steps in that run?

Hi I need to get properties of CustomizationRBTQuestion object. I am using below VBScript code
Set tdc = QCUtil.QCConnection
Set objCustomization = tdc.Customization
Set qcRBT = objCustomization.RBT
now based on the comments under CustomizationRBTQuestion object, which says "Get a CustomizationRBTQuestion object from methods and properties of the CustomizationRBT Object." I am using the below code without any success

and I tried Set RBTQues = objCustomization.CustomizationRBTQuestion as well
Please let me know how to get properties of CustomizationRBTQuestion object.

Hi I am trying to access properties of ISupportRBTAssessment2
in the ALM ref guide under that interface it has -
Represents Risk-based Quality Management assessment capabilities for the Req coclass.
So I connected to REQFActory and then tried to connect to ISupportRBTAssessment2 without any sucess.
If anyone can help find a way to access properties of ISupportRBTAssessment2 I would be very greatful.

How sort a column in Test Lab Execution Grid?
Hi,
I need to sort the column in Test Lab execution grid. I have a column, priority(Custom field) that carries from Test Plan and I need to sort this column. Based on the top priorities I need to execute the test cases accordingly.
Is there a way to sort by the user so that the user can see the highest value priorities on the top so that he can proceed with the execution?
Any help is really appreciated..

: HP Asset Upgrade Tool and troubleshooting it
Dear customer ,
When your organization uses QC/ALM to store QTP/UFT scripts , and if there is a need to upgrade your QTP version to next version , sometimes it might need you to upgrade all the tests and assets related to QTP.
As there will be large number of tests and assets involved , manually upgrading them is not an easy option.
So there is HP Asset Upgrade tool available to help in upgrading the Tests and Assets stored in QC/ALM.
This automatically upgrades all the QTP tests and Assets stored in QC/ALM from current QTP version to next version.

Few points to remember here is that :
1 ) The QC version has to be same. You can't upgrade assets stored in QC 10.0 to QC 11.0.
The upgrade is only when QTP version changes.
2 ) In case there is a QC version change along with QTP version , first the QC project has to be upgraded to the new version by the usual project upgrade process. Later the tool can be used to upgrade accordingly to the new QTP version.
Troubleshooting tips :
1 ) Run the Asset upgrade tool minumum thrice. I have seen in my experience that running the tool again resolves issues which occured during 1st run.
2 ) In case upgrade fails , check the Report and see if the error points to some files.
In such cases , check if the files exist in repository and if there is a corresponding entry in Database as well.
If the file is missing , we need to analyze what was the file and proceed further accordingly.
You can log a support case in such cases . Provide the QC version , QTP version , Asset upgrade tool version , Asset upgrade report. Make sure you have run the rool atleast thrice before going ahead with logging the case.

: How to change Heap memory in JBOSS ?

If you are using JBOSS in your QC/ALM environment , after the installation of JBOSS, it is sometimes necessary to change the heap memory used by it.
This is usually done when there is an increase in the number of active projects in QC/ALM or an increase in the number of concurrent user sessions.

HP QC10 on Windows 7/IE9 .dll issues
We are experiencing a few issues with QC 10 in our organisation.
We have managed to install it fine by giving users Admin access on a temporary basis and letting them know to launch QC as Admin the first time to get it to install correctly.
Afterwards, I grant users full control to the QC folder so that it can be opened with no .dll errors.
This seems to work ok, But isnt perfect as I occasionally have to reinstall it, Although I believe this is down to me loading it on behalf of the user rather than getting them to do it with admin rights as above ( And i havent had an calls back yet since getting them to do it themselves)
I guess its putting folders in their own user area/registry?
Anyway, The only real issue we are facing now is that for some reason, QC is keeping some of the .dlls open even when the windows you previous were using QC in has been closed.
This means that if a user wants to go back in, They have to close all their tabs in ie and kill of some lingering processes before they can launch QC again.
Which is obviously not ideal.The Dll's that seem to be in use are (Based upon the error we get)
QTGRID.dll
And
ARGSeditor.dll
We are on Windows 7 VM's (Each user has their own) 32bit.
Folder redirection is enabled
We are using IE9 and our Qc version/patch number is 10 patch 29

Scenario: To pull the test case information with the help of test ID from test plan and update the Type field of that test case.
I am facing "Method Item of Object IfactoryList failed" when trying to extract filtered data from test plan. PFB the VBA code

How to pass QTP result file path(.xml) as input parameter to QTP result viewer.exe?
I would like to open QTP result file using comand line statement.
For example to open an URL in IE we use "iexplore.exe www.google.com" command line statement.
Similarly I need command line statement to open "C:\Results\Report\Results.xml" result file using command like..
For exmaple... "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Run Results Viewer\bin\reportviewer.exe" -f "C:\Results\Report\Results.xml"

How to get TestLab folder info in Script Editor
Hi all,
I'm currently working on integrating QC with third party tool. And for this purpose I need to get info about selected folder in TestLab but I can't find a way to do it in ScriptEditor.
I could find a way to do it with TestSet though. I use TestSet_Fields object and read Fields from it as follows:
TestSet_Fields.Field("CY_CYCLE").Value
This line returns name of the selected TestSet.
There are other objects available explicitly for folders such as: AnalysisItemFolder_Fields, DashboardFolder_Fields, LibraryFolder_Fields etc but there is no one for the TestSet folder.
Do you have any ideas how to get TestSet folder's info?
