ActionCanExecute is not triggered as it should, any solution/work around?

Hi,

 

I want to prevent the step edit dialog to be shown in certain cases when I double click on a step in test details in test plan, so I thought to do this with ActionCanExecute, but it seems this is not possible?

 

When I double click in the step details of a test in test plan, the step-edit dialog is sometimes shown before ActionCanExecute is triggered. This is a problem as ActionCanExecute needs to prevent that the step-edit dialog is shown in some cases.


When I double click in the gutter of the step details of a test in test plan, the dialog box is always shown. Here I need to have ActionCanExecute executed first as well to prevent opening this dialog box.

 

Can anyone help me with this? Is there an alternative/work around for ActionCanExecute or is there a reason why ActionCanExecute is not always executed (at the right time)?

User Already exists issue

I'm having the next issue adding users to QC ALM v 11.52:

 

1. On the administration site, 'Site Users' tab, I perform a LDAP import, once I get the user information and try to import it, I have the error 'Failed to create user. User [USER_ID] already exists'.

2. I try to search user on the user list and it says 'Match not found'.

3. I try to find out user on the App DB and is not there.

 

My assumption is that user is on memory or transaction has not been committed or... somewhere.

 

Is there a way to reset/flush app memory?

joining a steering board the project manager thrilled me with this fancy chart - fresh out of HPQC (HP quality Center)

unfortunatly it is very hard to read the numbers. this graphic ignores many design principles and is not supporting the task to show what is open and what's been done.

i am new into the software, but drafting a much better version was done in minutes.

how do you like this kind of approach: it is easy to see, what is finally out of trouble, and how many cases are open / in progress. since i don't see other contact option, i post my request within here..

enabling text search on a project.

I recently installed HP ALM 12 on one of our servers, Windows Server 2012 and MS SQL  2012 and set up a project.

 

However, I wish to turn on the text search function.

 

When I click on "Text Search" in the DB Servers area, I get the error "Failed to Set DBServers Properties".

 

In the HP ALM Admin Guide it states that the EXEC sp_fulltext_database 'enable' function must be used first, but Microsoft website states full text indexing is automatically turned on in MS SQL 2012 and can't be turned off, therefore the command is not used.

 

Any ideas on what is wrong? ps I'm no DB expert so please don't baffle me with techno-speak ;-)

Upgrading issue: project migration from QC 10 to ALM 11.52

I'm migrating a project from QC 10 to ALM 11.52.

ALM 11.52 was installed on ORACLE 11g and Windows Server 2012 R2.

The Verify process was ok.

The Repair process was successful (no need for manual repair).

However the Upgrade process failed.

Test Instances order in test set

I have created a custom project report in ALM which gives all the test instances and steps in it for a particular test set (which i have put the cursor on).  the output is what i want but only thing is..in the report the test instances are coming in reverse order to what i have pulled to test set. ex: if i pull test cases into test set in A, B, C, D order, in the report it is coming as D,C,B,A. When in kept the Filter state(in  Analysis menu ->[My project report]->config tab ) as "custom" it is  generating all the test instances i have in ALM, but i want the test instances from the test set that i selected. i have tried every filter state option, but not getting what i want.  

 

Any one please help. Thanks in advance.

 

If no of test case increases, it will be difficult to add in reverse to TS to what i want in report

   When i try to reconnect ALM getting error "

  1. You cannot connect to this HP ALM / QC / PC version, because earlier in this session you were connected to a different HP ALM / QC / PC version.Clo se and reopen the testing tool before connecting to this HP ALM / QC / PC version

help HP QC12 Deploy .war with Jetty

Hi, I'm upgrading from QC10 to QC12. in 10 we used jboss and we could drop a .war file  int the HP\quality Center\jboss\server\defualt\delopy folder and then use the custom scripts in the QC project to install our own addon to our users.

 

How can we do this in QC12 with jetty? It doesnt' seem to have some type of deploy folder or even a Jetty folder.

 

The way we have it in 10 is that the installer will run when the user tries to log in to a QC project if the user does not have the addon. We would like to accomplish the same thing in QC12

Requirements Traceability Report (from Requirement to Trace-to Requirement)

Hi folks,

 

I'm trying to find a report which shows all requirement types (excluding "Folder) including the following columns;

  • Requirement ID
  • Requirement Name
  • Requirement Description Text
  • Requriement Type Name
  • Trace-to Requirement ID
  • Trace-to Requirement Name
  • Trace-to Requirement Type Name

I found an old post which seems related here using the last poster's sql;

however when I input this code into the query it returns an error as follows;

"The SQL Query has failed to run with the following error:

ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected"

 

I am using ALM 11.5.

 

Is there any hope for me to produce such a report?

 

The Business Reports fro Traceability are very useful but only show reports for Requirements with a Trace or Not. I want to view the report to show "Coverage" of Requriements by Requirements (not Tests).

Running SQL Query outside HP ALM

Hi Experts,

 

I am trying to pull data from HP ALM to find out overall utilization of the tool. For this purpose , I am running SQL queries in Siteadmin Schema to find out total number of Defects, TOtal number of test cases etc. This query gives me the count and each and every project.

 

Currently, I am running these queries by loggin in directly to Siteadmin_schema and then downloading the data in excel and creating graphs.

 

Now, I am looking at executing these SQL queres outside , without even login into Siteadmin schema using PL SQL client.

 

Can  I run these queries outside , through excel or something and then have that excel.

 

Please help. How to run SQL outside.

How to filter users by group in a field.

Hi,

 

My Requirement is simple, i have a field name developer. and wants to show users only belongs to developer group in userlist. 

My first doubt is will be using existing user list and applying any filter by workflow, if yes how?

other thing, if i need to generate a list by workflow to show from a group and setup field with that list name, this will only work on logout login. 

 

So in short totally confuse, how it can be solved? this question has been asked many times in this forum, but none has answer to it. So if anybody can help me out?

Hi i have a problem.

If i run a test, with a call to another test in one of the steps, if the test is passed for example, it doesnt change the Execution status of the test i called.

The test called, its in No run status.

What can i do?

Remove the ability to delete comments

Greetings All,

 

I do not want a seperate comment history field.  I am looking for the solution that allows users to add comments in the existing comment field but does not allow editing of old comments.  The solution everyone references is located here:

Would anyone be able to post a solution that uses the existing comment field but does not allow editing of previous comments?

 

 

Defect Field List Dependency

Hello All,

 

I have a requirement as below and trying to find out the options to implement a specific scenario through workflow

 

Status field list dependancy:

 

If the defect status is changed from new to open ,I was calling a pre defined list which has options to change further from "Open" status.

Ex: When I change status from new to open.my predefined list for open status future states will have values as "Assigned to Dev" ,"Assigned to BA" etc.Basically we have defined a defect life cycle and wanted to show only applicable status values which user can change to from open status etc.Like wise If its in "Assigned to BA" state next applicable status values could be "Reviewed" "Rejected"  "More Info" etc.

 

I was able to implement above condition through workflow,however I was looking for an enhancement here.

Ex: A defect is in a "Assigned to BA" state, a BA opened that defect to change the state as he finished his review.So techincally at this point a defect is still in a state of "Assigned to BA" till he posts that defects.So at this point When he choose the drop down to pick a value of "Reviewed" which is a future state.So after user picks the value of Reviewed (defect not posted yet) here I am looking for a way to restrict the drop down to show only previous state "Assigned to BA" applicable status values but not the future state "Reviewed" list values since the defect is not posted yet.Only after the defect is posted and then the user returns to that record as it will be in "Reviewed" state then he has to see the future state values of "Reviewed".

 

The current code I have is immediately showing the future state values of the option i choose prior posting the defect.So I am looking for a way to differentiate between pre post drop down values and after post values for a certain state.Can some one please share any ideas on how to achieve this and in which action event we have to trigger the code in Defect workflow.

Just a simple question: can i access alm using url: "http://<hostname for deployment server>:8080/qcbin" from another windows server on the same network??

 

also, is that url correct to use for other win7 systems as well?
