In the Design Steps view of a Test, when there are a large number of steps (ie more than fits on the first "page"), after editing a step (copy, insert, delete, move, etc.), the view always jumps up to the very top displaying the first step, even though I was editing the 100th step. This is very annoying to have to scroll back down to get to the step that I was editing. The step remains selected, just the view is jumped to the top. I would expect to see the selected step remain in the current view.
My users estimate that this unnecessary scrolling of the design step view wastes 80 man-hours a week. This behavior is new to QC v11. In QC v10, the step view remained on the selected step.
I opened a case and was told that this behavior was as designed, and to submit an enhancement request.
Without waiting on HP to go back to the future, does anyone have a solution that perhaps makes use of workflow code to keep the selected step in the current view?
