What is the best practice method of capturing the relevant run information in a defect for ease of reference? It is nice to have all the pertinent information within the defect entity...less clicking. It is also nice to be able to have the attachment come through in the automail. Currently our team is doing exploratory testing and when finding defects they are creating Word Docs with written steps and screenshots and are attaching to the defect. This accomplishes the end goal but I just feel that we should be able to use the application (ALM or Sprinter) for creating all that information in ALM and then creating the defect. In the end we end up with a test entity in the plan and lab but with all the necesary information in the defect. It may be a few more steps but results in better management of the information. I don't see anyway by default to attach a "run report" to the defect. (Again, I do know that we can link to the different test entities...and we are doing that when necessary...but it just requires much clicking to get to the relevant test information.) The main goal is easier oversight for test leads to have quick monitoring of defect logging as well as customer service to our business clients so they don't have to click around alot to review the test run entitiy that created the defect. Thanks for your time.
