Automatic Runner (Manual Test Scripts)

Hello Everyone,

I have a requirement from the QA team to send a notification to a tester when it is their turn to run a test in test lab. The only out of the box solution I have found so far is to use the Automated Runner feature.

Judging from the documentation (http://alm-help.saas.hpe.com/en/12.50/online_help/Content/UG/t_run_auto_tests.htm), it is either suggested to run all tests from your local machine, or assign testing to a remote host. We have many users that need to run tests, so we would like to avoid setting up remote hosts on each users machine.

I was hoping that we could start an Automated Run locally, and then when it's the next testers turn, they would get a notification, and run in on there machine locally. I have noticed that if you choose to use the Automatic Runner to run a single test, the next user is not notified. If you choose to run all tests, all users are notified when there turn comes, but there is no way to continue a run from a local machine. The one exception I have seen for this is, if all testers open up Automatic Runner, and choose to Run All tests at the same time, notifications work properly, and all tests will show up automatically. This seems like it defeats the purpose of having a notification sent to a tester though, and requires everyone to monitor ALM while testing is in progress.

The instructions I'm looking through don't seem to cover this subject thoroughly. Is there a better way to solve my problem?

Thank you,

Michael
