Permissions issue using Synchronizer w JIRA

I'm an Atlassian Expert working on location with a client who is trying to synchronize defects from ALM as bugs in JIRA using the HP Synchronizer. My apologies if I'm posting in the wrong category (happy to be linked to the right place, if so).

When setting up a link, we had an issue with JIRA custom fields showing permission as R, while all the built-in fields were showing as RW.

We figured out that custom fields created by the original admin account (the one created when you install the software) would show permissions as RW, but custom fields created by any other admin account (ie mine) were the ones showing as R. We recreated the necessary fields for the link using the original admin account, but we're trying to track down a better answer that allows more than one admin to create fields.

We have an open ticket with Atlassian to get advice on how to change permissions on existing custom fields, but they are not aware of where/how these permissions are being set in the database. They have requested that we ask the Synchronizer side for more info on where the synchronizer is getting these permissions from. Just to make it a little bit more fun, JIRA is being hosted and the db managed by a 3rd party vendor, so the problem could potentially be caused by something they've configured as well.

Does anyone have any advice?
