I am a Technical Analyst and am currently looking at our testing tools. The current situation is:
Software in-use:
- TestTrackPro
- IBM Rational
- Mercury Quality Center
We have decided to move to either the most recent incarnation of on-premises Mercury (HP Quality Center?) or look at the HP PaaS offering. However, each of the current tools contain data (test cases, results, et al) and these need to end up in the final product. Some of this data is obsolete and an internal exercise will identify this and exclude it from the migration. As for the rest...
- The TestTrackPro is being manually migrated to Mercury as we speak so can be ignored.
- The IBM Rational contains a lot of data than needs to be moved and we need a plan for this. Would it be better to migrate it to our current Mercury then upgrade, or should we upgrade and migrate the Rational data to the new end point?
I need to come up with a high-level migration strategy and would like any advice, especially if anyone has already gone down this road. Alternatively, should I be talking to someone else?
