Ability to change status of a test script (automated test case) by specific userid

I would like to empower a certain group of users to be able to execute automated test cases updating test status at the end. Currently they have been assigned permission to do so by activating the Update checkbox from Customize\Groups and Permissions\Permissions\TestLab\Test Instance but the inconvenient is that they are also able to update status from manual test cases.

How can i accomplish that ?

Is it something that may be done with Configuration ? or Do I need to write some code using Script Editor ?
